Speaker Bio

Chris Norman

Chris started in IT after joining the Royal Australian Air Force in 1998. Having completed seven years of military service as an electronics/communication technician Chris left the Air Force and worked for Boeing Australia as a defense contractor in the Australian Defense Force Network Design Department. During this time his time in the military and serving as a defense contractor Chris was exposed to a variety of technology both in support and engineering roles.

While working at Boeing Australia Chris was offered the opportunity to take part in an employee exchange to the US. After the 6 month exchange Boeing offered Chris a permanent position in Voice engineering in the US.  While working at Boeing (US) Chris lead the collaboration technical team through deployment and integration of OCS R2 to Boeing Cisco’s Unified Communication manager system for VoIP connectivity.  Seen as one of the largest dual enterprise environments with over 160,000 OCS accounts and more than 110,000 Cisco IP phones, Chris’s work lead to the acceptance of a supported interoperability model for VoIP between Cisco and Microsoft products deployed by Boeing.  This same model was also deployed at BP, Sony and others based documentation created by Chris. Chris’s efforts with Cisco Microsoft VoIP interoperability lead combined with work in the IT community lead to MVP status this year for OCS before joining the Microsoft team as a Voice Technical Solution Professional.

Chris was also the NW Chapter president of the NW Chapter of Cisco IP Telephony Users Group for three years and currently authors a Unified Communications focused blog at http://voipnorm.blogspot.com.
